We came to Rupee Bar on a Sunday evening and were seated right away in the heated outdoor section, right next to the fire.
We ordered naan with dhal, fried eggplant, mutton rolls, and the sturgeon. I can’t even pick a favorite because they were all so delicious, and so different from one another. It made for a really wonderful meal. I would order any of these dishes again!
Loved our experience at the Rupee Bar!
We made reservations as it looked like a smaller venue & although there were a few table’s available at 6. Friendly and relax staff & atmosphere. We felt attended to, but not overwhelmed.
We ordered half the menu and it was all good.
Crispy mutton rolls and Kerala chicken, fried eggplant, naan and prawns.
Although everything tasted great, my personal favourite were the prawns.
Four of us came to Rupee Bar to celebrate a birthday. We got a table outside on the sidewalk. We ordered about half the menu. All the food was delicious and the drinks were excellent. It was fun ordering so many plates and sharing amongst the table. I highly recommend the naan, kale salad, and the Kerala fried chicken. I would happy return to Rupee Bar with just my husband - it would be a wonderful date spot!
This place was a delight - fresh, wonderful dishes, but amazing flavors that are far from the norm. The cocktails were inventive and bright, the food unique but well prepared and very satisfying, and the friendly service was genuine, perfect Northwest hospitality.
Great fusion food. Local Srilankan flavours along with Indian cuisine. All dishes we tried were delicious! Will come again.
I would have given this place 5 stars, but……We made a reservation online, 3 days prior for 9pm. 3 hours before our reservation, the restaurant called to ask if we could come early. We had other plans, so it wasn’t possible. We reach the restaurant at 8:55 only to be greeted by the server in these words, “Hi we will be closing our kitchen in 5-10 mins, but I can get you seated here” that was a turn off. We were very excited visit this place and it did have a really great atmosphere
Nevertheless, we ordered a couple drinks and they were both well made. Particularly liked the learning curve. I highly recommend the dhal curry with Naan. The kerala fried chicken was well made, but could be spicier. The bhel puri was too sour and would only recommend if you like extremely sour dishes. Overall I am still giving them four stars as we did like the atmosphere and found the food above average.
I heard a lot about this place and was excited about Sri Lankan cuisine. Most of my Sri Lankan gastro experience have been great.
We did a reservation in advance as it is difficult to find a place. It’s a small restaurant.
Order:
- naan & daal curry: was good. Was expecting more flavours
- Bhel Puri: was delicious
- Deviled prawns: would definitely recommend. Burst of flavours
- kerela fried chicken: was ok
Small table and small restaurant. Vibe was good. Service was quick too. I am told they are better with food. May be one of the days. Although the drinks were pretty amazing.
Amazing meal! Came as a group of 4 and split a bunch of plates. Loved the blueberries in the bhel puri, and the mutton rolls were so good we ordered 2 rounds. Also had cocktails, the dal, naan, fried chicken, and scallops and all were delicious. The ultimate highlight was the tart for dessert topped with a wonderfully spiced whipped cream. Service was friendly and fast. Only downside was it was uncomfortably hot inside, particularly at our table which was right next to the kitchen.
